Visiting students

A visiting student is any student, Spanish or foreign, who wants to take subjects in any degree, master's degree or own degrees (except external internships, practicum and final degree and master's degree project) with a temporary stay at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, independently of any other national or international mobility programme. Students who participate in the framework of international agreements of the University of Castilla-La Mancha are excluded from this group, although those who exceed the quota of completed exchange agreements may participate. 

The duration of the stay will be a maximum of one academic year. 

The visiting student may select any subject available in the academic offer regardless of the course, degree or centre. 

For undergraduate degrees:

• In one semester: minimum 24 ECTS and maximum 30 ECTS.
• In one year: minimum 24 ECTS and maximum 60 ECTS

For master's degrees and UB-specific degrees:

• Minimum 20% and maximum 75% of the ECTS of the complete study plan of the degree.
• No more than 30 ECTS can be taken in a semester.

Once the stay has been completed, the issuing of the academic certificate with the subjects taken, number of credits and grades can be processed through the Electronic Office of the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The amount established for the issuance of the certificate must be paid. You can also request a certificate for the period of your stay at the International Relations Office (ORI) of the campus where you carried out your stay. 

The studies taken will not give an option to obtain an official degree at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, only the subjects passed can be recognised. 

To be admitted, the following requirements must be met:

Academic requirements:

• Meet the basic requirements necessary to gain access to Spanish universities for bachelor's or master's degree studies.
• Be or have been enrolled in another Spanish or foreign university with a level equal to or higher than the subjects you wish to study at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
• If they are own degrees must meet the special necessary requirements for that degree.

Language requirements:

• Accredit a language level B1 or higher (according to MERCL) of the language in which the subjects applied for are taught. This language must not be the student's mother tongue or have been previously studied in the same language.

Application

To apply for admission, the application form must be submitted or sent by e-mail to the International Relations Office (ORI), attaching the necessary documentation to justify the entry requirements. Once the coordinator and/or director has given his/her approval, the ORI will inform the applicant of acceptance, attaching a letter of admission with instructions for registration in the international relations computer application (AIReI ).

This admission is conditioned by the number of places available in the selected subject. Under no circumstances may the admission of visiting students generate academic or teaching needs. Subsequently, following the instructions of the ORI, enrolment must be formalised

Deadlines for receipt of applications are:

• 30 May for academic stays during the first semester (September-January) or full academic year. 
• 30 October for academic stays during the second semester (February-June).

Undergraduate studies
Once you have been admitted, you must register at the Campus Student Management Unit (UGAC) within the following deadlines:

• If you are going to do a full year or first four-month period, you must register the first week of September.
• If you are going to do the second term, you must register in the first week of February. 

 
Master's studies
Use the deadlines established for these studies to register at the UGAC.

Own degree courses
You must register at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP) within the deadlines established for these studies. 

After enrolment, an academic file is opened with the application, letter of admission, registration and study contract. 

Payment of the enrolment fee

For bachelor's and master's degree courses, students must pay the public prices established in Castilla-La Mancha for official courses offered by public universities that are currently in force. For own degrees, the prices established for these studies must be paid.

After receiving and checking the documentation submitted, the corresponding letter of payment will be returned and must be paid in a single payment before the start of classes. In case of cancellation of enrolment, the specific regulations of the University of Castilla-La Mancha will be used for these cases. 

• Visiting students shall have the same rights and duties as other students, except for those duties that refer to participation in bodies and collegiate bodies and those relating to the application of the rules of continuance. 
• The current academic regulations shall apply to them.
• During their stay, visiting students must be in possession of medical assistance, accident, liability, international transfer and repatriation insurance valid in Spain and in force during their stay. A European Health Insurance Card is available for students from the European Union.
• If you are a foreign student and have been admitted, you must obtain the corresponding visa and when you are in Spain you must obtain the authorisation to stay for studies established in the current law. 

The visiting student will have as academic responsible for his/her stay the mobility coordinator of the centre where most of the subjects included in the application form are taught. In the case of master's degrees, the coordinator will be the coordinator of the master's degree and the director of the degree itself in the case of the student's own degree.

Visiting students will receive technical guidance through the ORI, the UGAC of the corresponding Campus and/or the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, depending on the subjects they are going to study.

Students who have applied for or are beneficiaries of asylum or temporary protection may:

• Make the application and enrolment without providing documentation accrediting the academic requirements as long as it can be justified. 
• Apply and enrol without accrediting the language requirement.
• Enrol for fewer credits than the established number of credits.
• Enrolling outside the established enrolment deadlines, provided that the assessment committee accepts the student's proposal.
• The maximum duration in this situation may be a maximum of two academic years. 

Students in this situation must provide the application for asylum or temporary protection that accredits these conditions. In the case of providing only the student's application, the resolution can be added to the file within 10 days of its notification.
